Founded in 1993, canfitpro is the largest provider of education in the Canadian fitness industry, delivering high-quality education, certifications, conferences, trade shows, and services to more than 85,000 members who include some of the world’s finest fitness professionals, health club operators, industry suppliers, and fitness consumers.
HK Canada’s proud partnership with canfitpro stretches back over 15 years, beginning as an exhibitor in the early years of canfitpro’s annual conference, later becoming a provider of continuing education courses, and more recently becoming a publisher of canfitpro’s excellent certification content.
HK and canfitpro recently recommitted to our collective partnership and growth by signing an agreement in 2014 that includes attendance and promotional support for canfitpro’s growing conference portfolio, including Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver, and the International Fitness Conference and Trade Show in Toronto. Over the years, HK authors have been integral presenters and partners themselves at canfitpro conferences, particularly the main event in Toronto. HKC has been active in supporting the educational objectives of canfitpro, providing access to and sponsorship of key authors best suited to help canfitpro achieve their goals in delivering globally recognized presenters who are experts in their field.
HK’s online education courses made available through the HK canfitpro web store provide canfitpro members with access to top-notch continuing education credit anywhere, anytime. This online store now includes 48 online course products approved by canfitpro as well as more than 200 recommended resources.
HK and canfitpro also work together to publish Foundations of Professional Personal Training, Study Guide for Foundations of Professional Personal Training, Online Fitness Theory Course, and Online Fitness Instructor Specialist Course, high-quality fitness education content in attractive and user-friendly formats, laying a framework for the positive and progressive development of fitness professionals across Canada.
HK and canfitpro look forward to an exciting future together alongside the continued growth of personal and professional fitness in Canada and worldwide.

HK Canada partnered with Active Healthy Kids Canada to help promote the inaugural Global Summit on the Physical Activity of Children, held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, May 19 to 22, 2014. This event attracted delegates from more than 60 countries, 14 of which took part for the first time in grading the physical activity level, standards, behaviors, and environment of their own country. AHKC celebrated its 10th anniversary of issuing its Report Card on the Physical Activity of Children and Youth by engaging in this multinational research effort. The results led to the establishment of a global matrix of 9 key indicators while facilitating international cross-fertilization of research and intervention efforts as a stepping point from which to expand the effort to more countries and develop a network for the promotion of active healthy kids worldwide. A special supplemental issue of the Journal of Physical Activity and Health contains the abstracts presented at the Global Summit and is available in free open-access format on HK’s JPAH journal page.
