Downloading Ancillary Software
1. How do I request ancillary software for a textbook I have adopted?
First, make sure the textbook you have adopted does come with ancillary or instructor guide software. To receive
Free ancillary software, you must send HK a signed and dated request on institution letterhead which includes
a signed statement from your department head verifying that you are an instructor and that the information is correct
(send to Human Kinetics, Ordering Department, P.O. Box 5076, Champaign, Il, 61820-5076). In addition, please specify:
- Disk or web download. Please specify to receive software on disk or via web download and the platform--Windows 3.1 or Macintosh 7.0 (minimum system requirements). (Note: Not all instructor guide software is available via web download.)
- That you have adopted the related textbook for a course you currently teach or will teach
- The name of the course, number of students, and academic term for which a textbook order will be placed
- The bookstore placing the order
Note: We do not make instructor guide software available on an examiniation basis, nor do we accept returns of opened software packages.
2. What are the requirements for downloading ancillary software?
- Once you have downloaded the software, you will need a web browser to look at it. This is true even if you request the software on disk.
- You will be required to obtain a user name and password in order to access the software. This information will be provided to you after you send in your request.
- You will only be able to download the software three times. There is no time limit, but we have limited the number of downloads per user.
- Your user name and password will take you directly to the software of the book you have adopted.
- Make sure you select SAVE FILE option in the pop-up box when downloading.
- MAC Users: The Macintosh format of the ancillary software is encoded as a binhex file. You will need StuffIt Expander to uncompress the installer. This application is most likely included with your web browser software. If not, you can download it for free from Aladdin Systems.
